Sofia Municipality entrusts the organization of collection, transportation and disposal of household hazardous waste to Ecoseif Ltd. in order to separate them from the general waste stream going to landfills. Household hazardous waste is a specific waste stream that requires a different approach. Their separate collection and disposal reduces the negative impact on the environment and human health.
All households will have the opportunity to hand over the following types of household hazardous waste free of charge:
- Varnishes and paint materials - varnishes, paints, paint solvents and thinners, inks, turpentine, adhesives;
- Household preparations and chemicals - detergents and cleaners containing hazardous substances, bleaches, disinfectants, preparations for plant protection and pest control, acids, bases, reagents, etc.
- Contaminated packaging or packaging containing residues of hazardous substances;
- Pharmaceuticals - expired medicines;
- Luminescent lamps;
"The goal of the campaign is for citizens to understand that hazardous waste should not be disposed of in the household waste stream." They should be managed separately and treated properly so that they do not pollute the environment and end up in water and soil. This is the only way to improve the quality of life and achieve sustainable environmental development," said Stanislava Evtimova, manager of EcoSafe.

You can request a home visit by calling. 0885 401 300, every weekday from 09:00 to 18:00 and to an answering machine on weekends and holidays, in case you hand over hazardous waste over 1 kg. from your household. Once requested, a home visit will be arranged once a month subject to minimum quantities.
